Upon arriving, I could not find my phone, so I called my own number. It was not answered for the first few attempts, finally someone answered and I asked "Where are you now?". "On the way from Singapore to Ipoh" was the answer. So it was the bus driver who picked up my mobile phone.
He told me he was coming to Singapore last night and would arrive this morning and told me to wait at Woodland at 7:00am.
I went to buy a prepaid card yesterday in view of the possibility of getting the phone back with the SIM card. I called SingTel to divert all call to my resident number. Woke up this morning at 5:00am to get to Woodland. Boarded bus 170 at 6:00am, arriving at Woodland checkpoint at 6:30am. Went to the departure hall, but was blocked by security for going to arrival hall. I had to wait for escort to the office to explain why I went there. Finally I got to go over to the arrival hall. I should have alighted at the Woodland bus stop and walk up the long staircase to arrival hall instead of going to the departure hall.
However, I waited and called him several time this morning, to no avail. Latter he called back to say he was on the way back to Ipoh. And he would be in Singapore again the next morning at 4:00am. I would not able to go there at that time, so I agreed that he sent it to Panther, the bus agency at Bukit Mertajam.
On the bus, I was thinking why I did not report to the office of Sri Maju in Singapore. So upon reaching home, I called Panther using my new Starhub prepaid card 018 service to tell him for the arrangement. I also called Sri Maju Singapore office to report the case.
It was my mistake not to get the SIM card reissued to me. It is free service. But last time, I was billed for that. This morning I called SingTel and was told it is free and would arrange for delivery to my house from 2:00pm to 6:00pm.
Waited for the whole day until 6:00pm, opened my door and found a piece of paper, mentioning that no one at home to receive the item. For the entire day, I stayed at home and went for shower at 15:35 and the delivery man came just exactly at that moment. I called to complain as I was told that someone would call me on my mobile or fixed line when he arrived but no call was received. The person told me it was only possible to deliver the next morning from 9 to 12. I insisted that it should be deliver at night, otherwise I would make sure I file a complain to SingTel as they were not following the standard operating procedures.
While I was talking to SingTel on this issue, the lady called me to tell me that the SIM card would be delivered around 8 to 10 pm.
Follow up :
Went back to my home town on 31th March 2011, asked my brother whether he collected the mobile phone from the bus agency in Bukit Mertajam. He told me the agent told him the phone was in Singapore office. I went to the agency and told them I would file a complaint to the head office. The agent told me to call Singapore office after returning before filing the complaint.
Today, I called S'pore office, and the mobile is with them.
